The Evolution of SFIST: A History of Vision and Growth

In 1994, a visionary proposal was set in motion by Dr. Romeo B. Bobis, along with a group of dedicated faculty members, who recognized the potential for transforming San Francisco High School into an institution focused on providing specialized education in science, technology, and industrial skills. This idea was driven by the growing need for skilled professionals in the evolving industries of the region, particularly in fields related to technology and vocational training.

By 1995, the proposal gained significant traction, culminating in an official approval from then-President Fidel V. Ramos. His endorsement marked a pivotal moment in the development of the school, setting the stage for its transformation into what would later be known as SFIST (San Francisco Institute of Science and Technology). This approval not only validated the vision of Dr. Bobis and his colleagues but also opened the door to a new era in technical and vocational education within the region.

Since its inception, SFIST has grown to offer a range of accredited programs recognized by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) through the Unified TVET Program Registration and Accreditation System (UTPRAS). These programs are designed to equip students with the practical skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in various industries, preparing them for the workforce with certifications that are nationally recognized and respected. SFIST’s commitment to excellence in technical education has made it a key institution in the region, contributing significantly to the development of skilled workers in the ever-evolving landscape of technology and vocational fields.
